Though in the end our bodies betray us all

Though in the end our bodies betray us all,
keep the faith. To flesh we owe only rent.
Even as hands may shake and syllables crawl
from halting lips, do not grow despondent.
Though in the end our bodies betray us all.

But soaring spirit may thrive in any prison,
even as the blood grows thin and movements lag.
The Christ within can rise beyond all reason
and make of us a triumph. So fly this flag!
Though in the end our bodies betray us all.
