What have I learned from you,  my dear murshida?
I will not be harmed when I give myself away.
Be watchful.  The truly observant eye can read a
world of truth in what tiny things convey.
The spirit does not live in judgment or control.
Intentions,  like clouds,  are shaped and reshaped too.
Feelings become their opposites.  Do not console
yourself with affections that are so quickly through.
This one has her story.  That one has his own.
Our faces hide a mystery but dimly seen.
God too has a story, but it cannot be known.
So give each his freedom, and do not come between.
Take only what is given.  And when that is gone,
harvest the meaning-- then move on,  move on.
